Dr. Trusdale and Staff

Dr.  Terry Trusdale
Dr. Trusdale, born in Scotland, graduated in medicine from the University of Glasgow, in 1973. After doing his internship he emigrated to Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada in 1975. He has made Thunder Bay his base ever since. He was the first family physician partner at the Spence Clinic until 1984, becoming certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP) during that time. In 1985 he attended McMaster University and studied Emergency Medicine for a year. He took a special interest in Aviation Medicine at that time and returned to Thunder Bay in 1986.

There he became the first full time Emergency Physician at McKellar Hospital’s Regional Trauma Center. He set up and ran the Air Paramedic Program for the Ministry of Health’s Bandage 3 Helicopter. This was the first advanced paramedic program in the region. In 1996 he stopped emergency medicine and spent six months under the guidance of Dr. Stephen Lutzak learning about the treatment of venous disease of the legs.  When Dr. Lutzak left later that year for Nashville Tennessee, Dr. Trusdale took over the clinic, which he continues to run. He maintains a regular association with Dr. Lutzak and the Mid Tennessee Vein Clinic in Nashville. Trusdale’s interest in Aviation Medicine continues and he was appointed a Civil Aviation Medical Examiner in 1998. He continues to do Aviation Medicals. He has full licenses to practice Medicine in Ontario, Nunavut, United Kingdom, as well as Queensland, Australia where he did a sabbatical with the Royal Flying Doctor of Australia in 1991. He and his wife Carol, now live just outside Thunder Bay, and follow with interest the progress of his daughter Paisley as she goes through medical school in Winnipeg, Manitoba. By far, the majority of his professional life is now geared toward the treatment of venous disease of the legs. For further details on his vein clinic, please visit the rest of his website.

Dawn Goldstein, RN
Dawn is known to a great many people in Thunder Bay from her long term work in the new born intensive care unit (NICU) at McKellar and Thunder Bay Regional Hospitals. She now works exclusively as the clinic nurse doing assessments, treating spider veins and keeping Dr. Trusdale on his toes! Originating from Chapleau, Ontario, Dawn is a registered nurse who graduated from the McKellar Hospital School of Nursing. Her sense of fun and outstanding clinical skills are much appreciated by Dr. Trusdale and the rest of his staff. She is vague as to her year of graduation!

Sandra Graham
Sandy is Dr. Trusdale’s personal secretary. She works exclusively in the business office behind the scenes. She performs a great variety of tasks for the clinic. Her experience in the acting field makes her telephone booking skills outstanding.
Patricia Lennox
Pat is the clinic’s senior receptionist. She comes “on loan” from the Ministry of Natural Resources. Her ability to organize all at the clinic is legendary and her giggles are infectious.

Loretta Fonso
Loretta is a clinical assistant who replaced her daughter, Leanne, at the clinic in 2001. A retired teacher from the separate school system, she is now enjoying a new lease on life in a different profession. In an early reversal of roles Leanne taught her a great deal.

Barbara Zettek
Barbara is our newest clinical assistant. She, too, is a retired teacher - in her case - from the primary system of the Lakehead Board of Education. She is also enjoying working in a new profession. Many think she should explore the culinary arts program at Confederation College. Her clinic goodies and treats are delicious.

Tara Lennox
Tara is our cotton ball maker. Daughter of Pat, she painstakingly creates the little cotton balls used at the clinic during injection sclerotherapy. She does a wonderful job, and, like Sandy, works behind the scenes.

Dr. Paisley Trusdale
In May 2007 Paisley completed her medical school training in Winnipeg. She is the new "Dr Trusdale". She has moved back to Thunder Bay and is doing her resident training in Family Medicine at Thunder Bay's new medical school. Paisley has worked at the clinic since it’s inception in a variety of roles. She can now enjoy being able to get involved in the clinical work under her father's guidance

Carol Craig
Carol is our newest employee. She serves as the Chief Financial Officer and as a back up to any staff area that needs her. She is an inspiration to her husband and keeps his role in the clinic in true perspective.
